Marketing: How To and How Much.

by | Dec 1, 2021

Ahhh, Marketing.  How to?  How much?  Where?  When?  Just… how?  Marketing sure has its challenges and these days, we business owners are presented with So.Many.Paths.

My motto?  Be so good, so worthwhile to your community, that you barely need it.

Word of mouth referrals are what really make a business owner’s world go ’round.  You can only receive word of mouth referrals if you produce a quality product or service… consistently.  Word of mouth referrals ensure that you are accessing the right client for you and what you offer.

Now, even the best of the best still need to have a presence online, to have a brand, and be able to be “found.”

Algorithms, paid ads, and saturated markets can make social media tricky to navigate and break through.  BUT, they are the perfect (and free) method for showcasing who you are and what you can deliver, or what your latest product is.  Jump in and have fun.

Just have an authentic presence.

YOU DON’T NEED:

…. viral reels,

… creative directing,

… the perfect dance and point at captions video,

… thousands and thousands of followers,

… or even a beautiful array of posts in your Instagram profile.

Don’t compare yourself, BE yourself!

Those middle aged woman dancing and pointing at caption bubbles and doing split screen stunts, well, kind of make me uncomfortable anyway.  My focus is always on authenticity, showcasing who you and are, and bringing valuable content to your target audience.  So, market, yes.  But, don’t over-think it.

Especially if you have brick and mortar business, your efforts are best spent networking locally through communication, conversation and real-life events, not in the virtual world. This art is not actually dead.  Get out there, be good at what you do, be authentic, be available.

Most of all, be valuable to your audience and to your community.

Your support to your community will be met with equal amounts of support back to you.  It can be done.

To answer: How Much?  Where?  When?  What platform? wouldn’t be personal enough.  It truly, truly… depends.

Start with the platform you are most comfortable with, join some groups, add valuable information to threads and comments, post at the time YOUR audience will be online. Again, social media is not the place to over-think.

An entrepreneur’s energy is best spent on the quality of their work!
