Authentic.  Adjective.  Representing one’s true nature or beliefs; true to oneself or to the person identified.

Do you appreciate authenticity?  Me too.

Do you tend to trust people you feel are authentic?  Me too.

Do you scrutinize things for authenticity?  As in, it matters to you?  Me too.

THIS is why being authentic is so very important to gaining appreciation, trust, and belief from your clients as a business.

If you are not being your authentic self, none of this can happen, and your brand is essentially dead in the water.  Pretending to be someone or something you aren’t not only drains your much-needed energy, it leads to a tangled web you won’t be able to get out of, and distrust amongst your team and targeted audience.

Being authentic is the only way to establish a business that aligns with you and your needs.

  1. Be consistent and true to your mission and brand.
  2. Be human, always.
  3. Remember actions speak louder than words.
  4. Don’t try to be someone/something that you are not.  Save your energy for other things.
  5. Be honest.
  6. Engage in conversation with clients/customers, get to know them on deeper levels.
  7. Acknowledge your mistakes.
  8. Be vulnerable.
  9. Tell your story; of how you struggled, how you triumphed, how you got where you are today.
  10. Love what you do.

If you find yourself straying from these truths for authenticity, get back on track, and quick.
